Yesterday it was a nice, calm, relaxing Sunday in Berlin and I decided to have brunch at Ohlala, a vegan pastry and coffee shop with many gluten free options available.

Besides their brunch on Saturdays and Sundays is 100% vegan and gluten free: too tempting not to try it!

I decided to start with a trio of salads: all fresh and tasty. There was also some risotto with peas, tomato gaspacho served with different vegetables, raw zucchini topped with a vegan basil cream and some hot dishes.

There were also shots of pina colada smoothies: that was a first time for me at brunch and I have to say, not a bad idea after all…!

To satisfy my sweet tooth I had the pavlova meringue cake with vegan cream and strawberries, gluten free toasted bread with jam – the bread wasn’t artisanal but from a mainstream brand, as an Italian I am always craving for fresh gluten free bread… ;). I did enjoy the pistachio cake with black cherries and the vegan ice cream topped with mango.

Ohlala coffee shop is a cosy and familiar place: yesterday it was quite crowded but I did enjoy it because I had the chance to share the table with other people and have little chats. I met two nice girls Aline and Liana who were visiting Berlin for their holidays like myself. Liana has a facebook page called Loving Nutrition to absolutely check out – it is so interesting ! Here it is the link to her page : https://www.facebook.com/lovingnutrition?fref=ts

Time passed by quite quickly and I started to crave for one of Ohlala vegan gluten free cakes that were looking at me from behind the counter…! I decided to have a slice of the vanilla strawberry cake, a little too creamy for my tastes but it was good.

A big thank you to the Ohlala staff, they were all very nice !
