This week my best friend Frédérique was in town and he is a smart vegetarian cook, not that easy to be pleased 😉
I looked and looked for a restaurant where we could go for lunch and then, I ended up at Le Potager de Charlotte: a newly opened restaurant in Paris 9th (just three weeks old) that is specialised in vegetarian and vegan cuisine. Besides all of their menu is gluten free with very few exceptions with gluten. Well, I had found the right place to go!
Le Potager de Charlotte is both a juice bar and a restaurant created by two brothers: Adrien and David. Adrien is a naturopath who’s become vegan since 8 years now while David, vegan too, has been working as a manager in several restaurants before deciding to open up his own, along with his brother.
Their objective is to show that eating vegan or vegetarian can be tasty and « gourmand ». The name Charlotte is a homage to their mother.
At the restaurant I also met with Hugo, Frédérique’s friend from San Francisco, who was in Paris for work, combining it with some time off to enjoy good food and the city.
Our starter was an avocado « façon oeuf dur » with vegan almond mayo: delish!
As main course we took roasted pumpkin with green lentils squash, salad, seeds and peppers sauce. We also tried a mix of quinoa, salad, pumpkin, avocado, grapefruit, tofu smoked almonds. Loved both!
Adrien loves concocting super food juices: we tasted some power energy juice with ginger, lime and apples. I felt reinvigorated after drinking it - no kidding 😉
Our dessert was a delicate raw apple crumble with apples, pears, dates and coconut oil. We also tasted persimmons (kaki) with agave syrup and maca. I loved this one more.
We ended up our meal happy and satisfied. The food is fresh, top quality and home-made. The recipes are created with real love for the food and care for the customers who are going to eat it. And it shows.
