Here I am back to Mama Eat, twice in a row!
I came to eat a classic Neapolitan gluten free pizza a few days ago and I loved it so much that all I wanted after I finished it was to come back one more time before leaving Rome for Paris where I currently live.
So here I am back with a dear friend and fellow blogger Valeria from www.valeriatorre.it
It was so nice to catch up with Valeria: we have so many things in common, and she is a funny, smart young woman.
That day I opted for my favourite gluten free pasta, Italian rigatoni with tomato sauce cooked the “Scarpariello” way – this is a typical recipe from Naples, my hometown, and it is SO delicious!
Valeria went for meat balls cooked in tomato sauce, with baked potatoes. This recipe is a big classic too, my grandma used to cook them for us when we were children at least once a week.
I also tasted the famous artichokes “alla romana”: it is a special way of slow cooking this vegetable and if you like artichokes as much as I do, I do suggest you try it. It’s very good.
Another good news is that the gluten free bread at Mama Eat is fresh and homemade, with their own gluten free mix and natural sourdough. That always sounds great to me and I did enjoy the bread.
For dessert Valeria chose Neapolitan “strufoli”: “strufoli” are small fried pastry balls topped with honey. They are made during Christmas time only and they brought us back so many childhood memories as we are both born in Naples.
At Mama Eat the menu is extensive: there are many different entrés, fried specialties, mozzarella, prosciutto, several kind of pasta, meat, fish, vegetarian dishes and of course, desserts like the more famous Italian tiramisù.
One more time I had a great time here and I can say now that Mama Eat has become my favourite gluten free restaurant in Rome!
