Gluten free ice-cream at Raki

Viva a gluten free ice-cream with cone!

I don’t know about you but personally, I love to eat a gluten free ice-cream that comes with a cone. It’s more satisfaction to me. Besides, it is crunchy and I think that it marries beautifully with the creaminess of the ice-cream. What can I say? I have a sweet tooth 😉

Since I discovered I had celiac disease, it became more and more difficult for me to find gluten free cones. Except for the Italian chain Grom, most of the other shops don’t have one and when you are not in big cities where usually Grom is, it becomes a kind of quest to find it.

Imagine my happy face when I discovered that in Sorrento, my hometown, there is actually an ice-cream shop called RAKI that has them.

I headed there the day after with my lovely cousin Giovanna.

At Raki the owner tells me that basically all the flavours are gluten free – except for the tiramisù – and most of them are also lactose free.

All the ice-creams are artisanal, hand-made with spring water. All the ingredients are selected with greatest care: from the famous hazelnuts from Sorrento, to the pistachio from Bronte and the almonds from Avola, both in Sicily. The hazelnuts are from Giffoni, the peaches from Leonforte; there are also pine nuts from San Rossore, and figs from Cilento,

I tasted a cone with two scopes of peach and orange+mango. I did like it.

I hope to go back one more time before I leave: the flavours Pineapple+basil and Ricotta cheese+figues+hazelnuts are too tempting!
