Thank you, my deer is a cosy, warm coffee bar and restaurant in Paris 11th arrondissement that serves exclusively gluten-free food. It is that kind of place in the neighborhood where you get to know the people that work there, you feel less as a customer and more as a friend who drops by time to time to spend a nice moment together.
That’s what it is to me.
Jana and Sona, who created Thank you, my deer, has welcomed me in since the first time I went there and every time I am back it is nice to catch up. Now I have one more reason to go and it is called Valerio, the cook from Naples - my hometown - that joined the team one year ago. Besides being skillful when he prepares food that is good for you, he is nice, friendly and funny.
The geometrical wall of the “Deer” that I like so much is designed by Juraj Straka, known for the amazing prints he creates for the fashion world.
Last time I was there it was Thursday and well, well, well…I discovered that on Thursdays instead of baking fresh gluten-free bread, the “Deer” makes gluten-free waffles. I had never eaten them before and Valerio let me take a picture in the kitchen of freshly homemade waffles. They look beautiful and they are so good.
Here there are with salmon, avocado, black olives and salad. I couldn’t help taking this freshly pressed juice with beetroot, apples and lemon, good to boost your immune system, and with this cold weather how could I not, t goes so well with the ensemble ;-)
At Thank you, my deer all the products are selected with care: the coffee is by Coutume that roasts the best coffee beans from all over the world , the fruit and vegetables come from the grocery Zingam that sells only seasonal products, the gluten-free flours, also allergen-free and organic, are produced by the brand Alisa.
Later on I was asked if I wanted to try the dessert and when this question pops up, it is very but very rare that I say no, I love it so much! So here I am eating a divine, “really” divine, slice of cake with chocolate and beetroot and white tea with ginseng.
In the kitchen Valerio was preparing ravioli - I couldn’t help watching him making them, and “les voilà”: ready to be on the Friday’s evening menu!
