Inside the beautiful Passage des Panoramas, not far from the Galerie Vivienne, stays precious and hidden like a gem Noglu, the first gluten free restaurant that opened in Paris in 2012.

There is Paris and there are its enchanting « Passages » that I personally love so much. There is Walter Benjamin and his remarkable book « Paris, capitale du XIXe siècle »:

«Ces passages, nouvelle invention du luxe industriel, sont des galeries recouvertes de verre, lambrissées de marbre, qui traversent des blocs entiers d’immeubles dont les propriétaires se sont regroupés en vue de telles spéculations. De part et d’autre de ces galeries, qui reçoivent le jour d’en haut, s’alignent les boutiques les plus élégantes, en sorte qu’un pareil passage est une ville, un monde en miniature.»

I love these lines and the translation goes: The passages like new galleries that make their way through blocks of buildings, they receive day light from the above, and with their many shops they are a miniature world, a city in its own right.

Noglu was created by the talented Frédérique Jules, and offers exquisite gluten free cuisine, often also lactose-free.

Lately it opened the Take Away just opposite the restaurant that proposes delicious sandwiches and quiches, soups, soft brioches, cakes, tarts, brownies, cupcakes and so much more, all to take away and bring home or at work with you.

I have to say, when I get inside a place like this, it is like becoming a child again, the colours, the smells, the sweets, my only desire is to touch and taste basically… everything!

And don’t forget that Noglu bakes its delicious fresh bread and brioches everyday.

Here I am home enjoying one fantastic sandwich: Noglu bread + « brie » cheese from Treviso + ham + mushroom + leeks, so yummy, the ultimate comfort food.

Here it’s me again having dinner at the restaurant and Wednesday is burger day.

The one I chose is with pork coated with breadcrumbs, homemade fries, and fresh salad: it was definitely one of the best burger that I have ever had. And it looks so beautiful too. At the restaurant, they tell me, Tuesdays’ are pizza day and Thursdays’ are for lasagna, well, what can I say… just be back soon with friends to enjoy together one very special gluten free cuisine.
