Sometimes I ask myself, why I love so much a place and less another? What draws me to go there any time I can?
Well, I think I can find the answer to my question at Welcome Bio in Paris. Welcome Bio is a both a grocery store and a restaurant. Created by a father, George, and his daughter, Marge, it is a family business, it is homey, it feels warm and welcoming. I like its colours, the smile of the people that work there, the products that are all organic, super fresh, and top quality. I like the gluten free aisle too: at Welcome Bio, it is a true happiness for me as I can find many different and beautiful products – from the Belgian brand Generous to the French Biscru – everything is selected by Marge with much passion and care. For me it was love at first sight!
Last Saturday I decided to try the restaurant as well and met with Martine and her team. Martine is the talented cook who puts much colour and taste in everything she does; she kind of gives the rhythm and plays the music at Welcome Bio Cuisine. The atmosphere is cosy and cheerful. I enjoyed a delicious gluten free fish gratin, with black rice, guacamole, spinach salad with mashua and oca from Perù. Included in my lunch, also a yummy gluten free chocolate cake with an orange sauce and a coconut mousse. Couldn’t be happier.
That evening I went back to Welcome Bio to meet my friend Soraya from Gluten free in Paris , have an aperitivo and catch-up. We enjoyed different gluten free “mezze” or “tapas” with some fresh bread from Chambelland bakery in Paris. The red wine we drank was good too. Later in the evening we got the chance to talk to Marge as well and we kept exchanging about gluten free, projects, stories, challenges, discoveries and friendship.
This is Welcome Bio, and so much more.
