Un dimanche à Paris pastry shop

Because Sunday is not a day like all the others, Pierre Cluizel has decided to make Sunday be everyday! That meant creating a place that is unique like “Un Dimanche à Paris” in the 6th arrondissement.

“Un dimanche à Paris” is “l’art de vivre autour du chocolat” – the art of living around chocolate – and it is an elegant pastry shop, a chocolate bar, an atelier, a restaurant and a tea room, all devoted to the finest French art of pastry making and cooking. I went there on a Sunday – Sunday to me always rhymes with a good pastry 😉 – and met with Sylvie, Pierre’s associate and marketing director at “Un Dimanche à Paris”. I was happily surprised to discover that several pastries are actually labelled gluten free! And so beautiful!

I love apples and could not resist to “la tarte aux pommes” – the apple tart: it was crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. I did like it.

Then there is savoury too: what about this incredibly beautiful “tartelette bisque de homard” with parmesan cheese sablé biscuit, lobster candied bisque, smoked bacon light cream, and purple cabbage ?!! I am all for it.

Surprises are not over yet as all the macarons are gluten free too.

Sylvie tells me that each month they create a special pastry and for Christmas there is the “Sapin”  – the Christmas tree – that is gluten free and made with a light creamy caramel, vanilla ganache, vanilla “Genoa bread” and streusel with cocoa. Yummy!

Not to forget and to order if you are spending Christmas in Paris, the renown French bûches de Noël!

At Un Dimanche à Paris you can choose between “Lettre au Père Noël” avec chestnut, vanilla pears and chocolate; “La Blanche exotique” with green lemon, coconut, banana, passion fruit, pecan and vanilla. Last but not least, there is “La Lactée caramel noisettes” with hazelnuts, caramel, and milk chocolate.
