Moonfood is the new spot to be in Brussels where I am currently visiting my dear friend Véronique and her family.
Besides this is my very first time in this city and I am so excited and happy to discover it!
Opened a few months ago, Moonfood is specialised in raw, vegan, gluten free cuisine.
I personally love food concepts like this that are able to put together people’s different choices in nutrition and come up with products that are actually so good that it shows that everybody can enjoy and eat them.
Thierry Aerts, Moonfood founder, wanted to create the first raw-vegan-gluten free affordable fast food cafe in Belgium where you can eat fresh and healthy foods at reasonable prices and after eating here, I can say that he kept his promise.
I loved the gluten free raw vegan burrito: what I enjoyed was its taste and also the creativity. The burrito wrap is actually home-made with apples and flax seed flour. They are not trying to copy “gluten” foods but creating new, alternative ones that can be incredibly good and tasty, bravo!
I also took delicious balls with carrots, dried tomatoes, nuts and flax seeds with a Daikon mushroom sauce; a Pad Thai with pumpkin seeds, cucumber with red beetroot sprouts and sesame seeds; zucchini spaghetti “alla bolognese”, very good!
I missed their sought-after raw, vegan, gluten-free lasagna, it will be for next time 😉
At Moonfood all the juices are freshly pressed and organic: loved my apple choice, so sweet and with no added sugar.
What about dessert ? Lemon cake or tiramisù with cashew, dates, vanilla, almond, coffee, coconut milk, agave … or maybe also a fresh fruit salad…or maybe all !
Ok, I took one but it was hard to make a choice…
I liked the design of Moodfood: the large windows open on the street let both the city and the sun light coming in. The nice combination of wood and concrete create a warm, relaxed atmosphere.
Hope to be back soon.
