Il Gusto di Carmilla take away restaurant

Carmilla is a famous female vampire from the Gothic novel of Irish writer  Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu.

Today Carmilla is also a lovely take away restaurant in Turin where Elena, the founder and the cook behind all the recipes, has turned Carmilla in a vegan, gluten free, vegetarian food lover.

I was happy to discover it during my last stay in the city.

All the food is cooked fresh everyday by Elena and her team. Most of the products are locally sourced and seasonal. Ideas for the recipes come from Elena’s travels and passion for good food.

The objective ? Take care of ourselves by starting from what we eat everyday.

For my take away dinner I went for a trio of an incredibly delicious quinoa with rocket pesto and dried tomatoes, a fresh salad with chard and red apples, “del purgatorio” beans from the Umbria region in Italy, so tiny, sweet and good.

There were many other options to choose from that were also gluten free like Java rice with zucchini or Basmati rice with pumpkin and spices.

For dessert what about these vegan gluten free mousse with chocolate or matcha tea?!! Not so easy to choose for me 😉

At Carmilla there is also a corner where you can shop a selection of vegan, gluten free products and on Saturday there is brunch!

Hope to go back to Turin soon and try it next time I am in town, I love a good brunch on the week-end!
