Il Gelato Amico means the Ice-cream Friend and today I can really say it is true. My dear friend Gabriella from Gli Artigiani del Sapore who lives in Turin told me to absolutely try this fantastic place that makes ice-cream that are incredibly good, gluten free, lactose free, vegan, low fat and low sugar. Cow milk is replaced by rice milk and more traditional white sugar is basically replaced by stevia, fructose and coconut sugar that is renown to have one of the lowest glycemic index.
The other day I decided to go out on a new mission and taste Il Gelato Amico!
I went there and when I arrived I found out that the Gelato Amico is currently closed – re-opening in March – because they are renovating and opening a new shop soon. I found myself there, with a sad face, when suddenly a guy popped out from the door and seeing us – I said “us” as I bumped on a girl who was there for the same reason as I – he insisted on offering us an ice-cream. I felt so lucky and so happy. I told myself …that’s what an “amico” does! And besides the ice-cream was very good!
