At the moment the restaurant has suspended the gluten free pizza service

This week I wanted to show my dear friend Soraya from the blog Gluten free in Paris what a real gluten free pizza from Napoli, my hometown, looks like.

So we headed to the newly opened restaurant Popine, in the 20th neighbourhood, where a famous pizzaiolo works: Gennaro Nasti, awarded best pizzaiolo in the world in 2012.

If you are familiar with my blog, you might have read about Gennaro already, this is my third post on his gluten free pizza as it is one of the best that I have ever had!

The gluten free pizza crust is mastered to perfection: crunchy outside and soft inside.

The ingredients are top quality and coming straight from selected producers in Italy.

For our visit Gennaro made us taste a “Margherita Gialla” with mozzarella “Fior di Latte” from Agerola, a small town close to Sorrento where I grew up that it’s known also for this cheese, zucchini, yellow cherry tomatoes from Napoli, particularly juicy and sweet, and rocket.

Verdict: very good!

Gennaro is aware of the risks of cross-contamination with gluten and pays the greatest attention to avoid them when he makes the gluten free pizza. The thing is that the oven is unique so traces of gluten can be possible.

One last comment to add is about the restaurant: the design is in mood with what’s up these days in Paris. I find it nice and warm. I love the big table in the middle of the room. With the beautiful season and sunny days that are about to come, I am sure we will fully enjoy also the terrace outside.

If you go, I would love to hear your feedback and please don’t forget to call Gennaro and order your gluten free pizza one day in advance 😉
