Last Wednesday I was in Naples for work and I stopped for lunch at Umberto, one of the best restaurant and pizzeria in the city that makes also excellent gluten free pizza.
Umberto opened in Naples in 1916 and it is one of the historic “pizzeria”, well known for its soft, crunchy pizza as well as for its selection of top quality ingredients.
Furthermore Umberto has developed a whole menu dedicated to gluten free food, that goes from starters to different kind of pasta, to fish, meat, cakes and of course pizza. The kitchen handles also gluten but the staff has been trained by the Italian celiac association (AIC) to avoid any possible cross contamination.
This time I chose the so called “Verace Pizza Napoletana” made of bufala mozzarella cheese, peeled tomato sauce, cherry tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil. It was delicious!
After I took a fruit salad and a coffee. Ready to kick off the rest of the day. Can’t wait to be back to enjoy another pizza!
