PINEAPPLE FAT-BURNING, REALITY OR MYTH?

If we type the words pineapple + fat-burning on the Internet, we are overwhelmed by so many articles and news that say so many different things that at the end they contradict each other…

At Baci di Dama we decided make things clear today, once and for all!

It is true that pineapple is a fruit that is low in calories and rich in water but that does not mean that it helps us loose fat.

So why do we so often associate it to fat-burning ??!!

Actually pineapple contains a substance called bromelain that helps the digestion of proteins but, be careful, not that of fat!

Pineapple has also a positive diuretic effect so it can help us get rid of too much liquid in our body. But still, this is not about fats that we are talking about… And as we have seen in a previous article, getting rid of liquids does not mean getting rid of fats.

Besides we can get this beneficial effect also if we drink just water.

This means that we don’t need to over stuff ourselves with pineapple!

As any fruit, if we eat too much of it, then we stock too much sugar.

The so-called “pineapple diet”, or any diet that is focused on one food in particular, is definitely not good for our health because it is poor of many other precious foods that our body needs to work properly.

One more thing to keep in mind is that the bromelain is very sensitive to heat so we don’t find it in canned pineapple because the fruit has gone through a heat treatment. If we eat it, let’s privilege the fresh fruit then.

One last thing! The bromelain is contained in the stem of the pineapple, so it’s in the hard part of the fruit that most of time we end up not eating it…

So let’s enjoy the pineapple, along with other fruit, in all of its “crunchiness”!
